High street health hub opens in Eastleigh
Our modern combined health hub has opened in Eastleigh, bringing important NHS services into the heart of a thriving shopping area.
The new centre, underneath the Vue cinema in the Swan Centre, combines a children’s therapies centre with a sexual health clinic – making both more accessible to the local community.
Formerly a Chinese restaurant, the old units were ripped out to make way for the state-of-the-art combined centre, which has two separate entrances and areas but with shared backroom functions.
Mark Young, Associate Director of Estates Transformation, said: “This innovative project puts two important NHS services right into the heart of Eastleigh town centre, providing them both with flexible healthcare spaces fit for the future.
“In transforming disused restaurant facilities into a modern, multi-purpose centre, we have created somewhere fresh, inspiring and extremely accessible for both our patients and staff.
“Every detail of this combined health hub has been carefully considered – from the size of consulting rooms and lay-out of waiting spaces to the artwork and colours of ceilings. The transformation has not always run smoothly, and I am extremely grateful to my team for their endless passion, drive and commitment in getting to the finish line.
“All their hard work paid off when they saw the delighted reactions of staff seeing the new facilities for the first time. We are hoping that our patients will be equally impressed as they start to use the centre in the coming weeks and months.”
An opening event is being planned for the autumn, when it is hoped current social distancing and other restrictions will have been eased.
