Hospital cleaning teams prepare to join forces

Housekeeping teams from two Southampton community hospitals have been brought together before they officially join forces later this year.

Domestic staff from the Royal South Hants Hospital met their counterparts at the Western Community Hospital in a special get-together organised by their supervisors.

Fay Stavrogiannopoulou, FM Assistant Manager, Audit and Compliance, said: “We had wanted to get the teams together for ages but it was so tricky to organise because of everyone’s shifts and personal lives.

“Once we had sorted the logistics, it was great to bring everyone together at the Western, where they will all be based once the new rehabilitation centre opens.

“Everyone has had a tour around the new wing and is very much looking forward to starting work there, once it’s ready.”

Fay said the teams were excited to finally meet each other and described the coming together as “a bit emotional”.

The teams will work as one once Solent’s 50-bed new rehabilitation centre opens on the Western Community Hospital site later this year.
