Joanna passes challenging cleaning course
When it comes to cleaning, there isn’t much Joanna Karwacka doesn’t know.
The Southampton based housekeeping supervisor has just become the third member of staff at Solent NHS Trust to receive her official licence to clean.
Awarded by the British Institute of Cleaning Science (BICSc), the qualification follows an intensive year-long course involving studying and assessments on top of the day job.
Joanna, based at Western Community Hospital, received particular praise for her training style, with examiners highlighting how well she explained everything at each step.
“It was amazing to do this course and I am so grateful to have had the opportunity,” said Joanna, who joined Solent in December 2019.
“There were 100 topics to cover so it was a lot of studying. I found it really hard work but well worth it. I would definitely recommend it as I learnt so much.”
The rigorous course focused on everything from latest cleaning methods to chemicals, communication, health and safety, customer service and everything in between.
Hazel Read, FM Support Services Manager, said: “I am so proud of Joanna for achieving her licence, which is a formal qualification of the cleaning industry.
“The work involved should not be under estimated so to pass it with flying colours like this is absolutely amazing.”
Now Joanna is an accredited trainer, she is qualified to share her knowledge with her team members – ensuring everyone is cleaning to the same exceptionally high standard.
